Experienced, practical, and very human.
I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor with more than 25 years of experience supporting youth, adults, families, caregivers, and helping professionals through complex and often high-stress situations.
My work has taken me across direct service, clinical, community, and consultation roles, which means I bring a lot more than one counselling lens into the room. I'm comfortable with complexity. I can hold the bigger picture, notice the patterns, understand the systems around a person, and still stay connected to the human being sitting in front of me.
Over the years, I've built deep experience in counselling, case management, case consultation, risk and safety planning, trauma-informed practice, family support, emotional regulation, and working with complex needs across multiple systems. I've supported people through crisis, burnout, grief, change, overwhelm, and some very complicated seasons of life.
I've spent more than 25 years working in direct service, outreach, clinical and consultation roles. I've supported individuals, families, and professionals in high-stress situations. Those experiences have strengthened my ability to see the bigger picture while helping people move forward in ways that are meaningful for them.
I believe people make more sense when we understand what they've lived through, what their nervous system is responding to, and what is happening around them. I care about creating enough safety and trust for people to be honest, while helping them move toward change that feels realistic, respectful, and sustainable.
I'm warm, curious, practical, and direct when it helps. I'll make space for what's hard, but therapy with me is not just about talking. We will build concrete skills to help regulate your nervous system, manage difficult emotions and respond differently when familiar patterns show up. The goal is to help you feel more confident and grounded in everyday life.
Safety, pacing, trust, nervous system awareness, and choices are part of the work. I want therapy to feel supportive, not overwhelming.
I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches, including DBT-informed, CBT-based, trauma-focused, attachment-informed, and emotion-focused work. I tailor the approach to the person in front of me and use what is most relevant, practical, and supported by evidence.
We will work on concrete strategies for emotional regulation, coping, communication, and changing patterns that keep getting in the way.
I bring clinical knowledge, experience, and ideas, while you bring expertise in your own life. We will work together to make sense of, decide where to focus, and build practical strategies that fit your life rather than forcing you into a one-size-fits-all approach.
I'll validate what is hard and make space for the parts that need understanding. I will also be honest, ask thoughtful questions, and gently challenge you when I think it may help you move forward.
I look at the whole picture: your history, relationships, environment, nervous system, and your physical and emotional wellbeing. Using a biopsychosocial lens, I consider how all of these pieces interact, because people make more sense when we understand the context around them.
We will start with what brought you in, what feels most important right now, and what you're hoping will be different. I will ask questions to get a fuller sense of what has been happening and what you have been experiencing. There is no pressure to tell your whole story at once. We will go at a pace that feels manageable and figure out together where it makes sense to begin.
We will develop a treatment plan together based on what matters most to you and what you would like to work towards. We will revisit it as we go, adjust when needed, and make decisions together about where to focus our time. Sessions will usually start with a brief check-in on how things have been since we last met before deciding what would be most helpful to work on that day.
Therapy with me is meant to carry into your everyday life. We will build practical skills and strategies you can use in between sessions to manage difficult moments, regulate your emotions, communicate more effectively, and respond differently when familiar patterns show up. We will also talk about what worked, what didn't, and adapt the tools so they feel useful and sustainable for you.
Book a free consultation and we can talk about what you're looking for, what support might be helpful, and whether working together feels like the right fit.
